I really wanted to enjoy this film, like really wanted to.
We haven't had a decent Bigfoot/Sasquatch film since Harry and The Hendersons.
Years ago, Chris's dad went missing, presumed dead, murdered by the Sasquatch.
Well Chris is wanting his revenge.
With his merry men and girlfriend, they buy guns and hire an attack dog to seek out the Sasquatch and bring it down.
At least most found footage flicks don't have dogs, so there's one thing new.
We're introduced into the movie as it saying it's all real footage, and basically after that all we get is an even slower Blair Witch Project, minus the Witch, adding the Bigfoot. Just.
So the gang interview many of the eyewitnesses that have said they've seen the Sasquatch or been involved some way or another, then go off into the woods to find the beast.
Unfortunately through the whole film, nothing really happens.
When people are killed, we don't even see it happening. I guess it's trying to up the tension by doing the less is more approach. Which doesn't work. At all.
The last 5 minutes of the film is where things finally kick off, but still we don't really see anything that makes us think 'Oh no'.
Except only for our poor eyes. And when we realise our life is around an hour and a half shorter and in that time, we would have had more fun spooning out said poor eyes, jumped on a boat and got motion sickness from something that would have at least ended in a way you would sort of enjoy.
So instead of a Harry and The Hendersons horror film, we have a Blair Witch Rip off with barely a Bigfoot in sight.
At least the footage really does feel real in that case.
The actors aren't that bad if i'm honest and do portray a good amount of realism in their work, except for when the script comes into play and they argue about pointless things all at the wrong time.
So if you want something that is very real but also very boring, give the film a go if that's your cup of tea.
If not, I have to say, still give it a try if you want to build your own opinion.
But in mine, it unfortunately gets only:
2/10.
It could have been so much better on a bigger budget and if they toned down the realism.
These films need fantasy, as reality, for a horror film, is boring.
