We start off being introduced to the 2 dimensional characters as we go through the start, then said death happens rather typically while the victim is only in her underwear.
Despite the extremely bad acting and ridiculously bad dialogue from the beginning, the film seemed to be directed rather well and I thought clearly I'll be giving this film around a 6 out of 10 rating.
But what followed changed my mind.
40 minutes in and nothing has happened. We've had a little back story about who the killer might be, but of course the reason behind whoever the killer may be is killing these group of kids.
So from what we learn we have potentially 3 different killers, each with their own motive. And each with a pathetic motive as usual. You know, the same old thing:
Girl is accidentally killed, boyfriend goes insane, get's sent to an insane asylum.
Old Hat.
We've also learned a little more about the characters, but in all honesty there isn't much to learn. They're all substandard clichéd characters.
There's the Jock who's simply an arsehole.
His friend, who is also an arsehole.
That guys girlfriend who is one of the cheerleaders, who surprisingly is an arsehole.
The list goes on, and the only two who aren't really arseholes to some extent is the ugly bullied kid who fancies the main girl, and the main girl herself, a sweet cheerleader who is secretly attracted to the ugly kid but goes out with the first mentioned Jock.
And every single one of them is as stupid as hell, trust me, you'll just wish them all to die straight up.
You can just tell what's going to happen from that already can't you?
Well, if not dear readers, let me tell you, with the least amount of spoilers possible.
Kids go out to a party, oh it's Halloween by the way. Yes more clichés. And it's in an abandoned house, in the middle of the woods.
So sex = death, drugs = death, being around = death.
After nearly everyone has been killed in possibly the most boring kills ever to grace the screen. (Although I'll let them off on this one considering it is hard to think up new funky ways to kill people in this scenario).
The main girl and the ugly kid are left.
We find out who the killer is.
Killer gets killed.
Without spoilers here, a sequel is then set up to happen.
Which I really hope doesn't happen, this film completely bored me, and the last ten minutes all I was hoping was for the film to end quicker.
But at least it had a cool killer/costume which was the mascot of the school's football team.
I read another review just before writing this close, just to see if others thought the same as I or if I was being too harsh. And I saw it gave the film a 3.5 of 5. So I started to think, hmm, what was actually good about the film, but then realised at the bottom of the review it said it had been written by a personal friend of the writer/director of the flick. Ah, they must be being friendly. Honestly, the only good thing in my opinion about this movie is the directing, and it has an end. So because of everything, I'm also going to give the film: 3.5 But out of 10. It's a shame that this film is just another below par slasher film that will be in bargain lots and forgotten about as it's hard to find a new truly decent slasher film that actually tries to be horror without the comedy. You'll have more entertainment looking at the cool poster that advertises the movie, instead of watching the movie itself. If you want to make an opinion of your own however, the movie will be released in August and you can pre-order here. |
