Edit works for a social research company in taking care of an autistic young maths genius, Abel, who managed to calculate a formula which would connect all forces in the world.
She has to report back if he ever says anything because since calculating the formula, he's become mute and Edit's employers want to calculate the formula themselves but every time they've placed the fomula into their super computers, the computers become self aware before shutting down.
After Edit reads the formula, thanks to the chip she had implanted, she calculates it and the chip goes in overdrive.
It starts to take her body over, and Edit develops a personality in the shape of a man who can control her body and help her through fight or flight situations.
She then has to try to stop the chip from taking over her completely and also stop the people chasing her down for what she holds in her body.
The film is an easy watch and on multiple views I can imagine easy to completely understand but on first viewing it feels like you're watching something similar to Ghost In The Shell. You know it has a decent story by watching and taking in what you can but have a hard time processing it.
I feel like I need one of those chips now.
The animation doesn't help either, it isn't the best and distracts you from the story because of it.
Same with the random robots in the film, there's a robot teddy bear and rabbit mainly but many different robots can be seen around the background and thanks to the poor animation you end up watching them and not paying full attention to the story.
It also doesn't help that it's a sequel/adaption with a different plot to a graphic novel which I don't believe is in English.
Well, I can't seem to find an English copy anyway.
Another slight annoyance is that because it's in Serbian, it has subtitles. That in itself is fine, but the translation is very poor.
Many times throughout the movie, sentences spring up which make no sense whatsoever unless you either rearrange the wording or process them with previous sentences.
If you can get past the annoyances however, it is an enjoyable film. I just recommend watching more than once to make sure you fully understand what exactly is going on, and if you can get past the annoyances, it definitely makes you want to know how it's going to end but I'm not going to tell you how it ends, but I do wish it was longer.
The film has everything you need, crazy science fiction, a decent amount of action, humour, and animated nudity (if you're into that sort of thing). And to top it off, it has a great soundtrack.
No special features on the DVD unfortunately.
So in all, I have to give the film:
6.5/10
It could have been better but could have been worse, still definitely worth a watch if you're into animated sci-fi.
The DVD is to be released November 9th. You can preorder here.
