We then float down to Dark (James Duval) in the shower....masturbating over random memories.
On top of trippy, this is an extremely sexual film from the get go.
'Nowhere' follows the lives of several teenagers,
There's Dark Smith, who sees a killer reptilian alien around, then his girlfriend Mel, who has a lover called Lucifer.
Both of the couple are Bi-sexual and have a very open relationship.
Other noteworthy characters are:
- Cowboy and Bart who are in a band, one of which is heavily addicted to drugs.
- Egg and her unnamed new TV star boyfriend who decides to beat and rape her.
- Alyssa and Elvis, Alyssa looks slutty but is a sweet girl, whereas Elvis is a stereotypical biker guy with strange fetishes.
- Zero and Zoe, Zero is Mel's younger brother and Zoe is his girlfriend (played by Mena Suvari), it is implied they are underage but sexually active.
Each of the characters lives are incredibly different from one another despite the closeness of some characters.
The film kind cuts to and fro between each characters stories as they all progress towards one huge party and preparing themselves for the end of the world.
I really wish I could explain everything that happens but firstly it would spoil this scarily odd film, and secondly, I don't think I really could due to how crazy everything is.
There is also a handful of cameo appearances from several other famous actors and actresses throughout the film, such as Heather Graham, Rose McGowan, Shannon Doherty, Denise Richards and many more.
Strangely empty, yet somehow sometimes beautiful yet destructive, simple but effective, an sometimes just blatantly 90's.
But that is the only special feature which is quite a disappointment. Yeah the commentary is extremely interesting and fun to just listen to others having fun, I do wish there was more. Whether it be interviews or whatever.
Obviously something stopped them from doing so.
In all, for this release and the film that makes no sense and hides/doesn't hide some serious undertones, and has possibly the weirdest and abrupt ending in history;
7/10.
It's not the best, nor the worse. But it's definitely fun and random.
(p.s. Stick around after the credits).
