I can understand why some people don't like it as it is a slow mover and artsy fartsy.
The girlfriend and I watched it this time, instead of only myself.
She enjoyed it but didn't think it was as amazing as I said it was, she still spoke about it a bit after it had finished though although at first she was reluctant to talk about it considering I never shut up about the film.
On second viewing it's still an amazing film and easily one of my favourite horrors of recent years, if not of all time.
It moves much faster the second time around, and I noticed foreshadowing here and there. Whether it was intentional or if I was just thinking too much, I still bloody saw it.
The beginning with the girl running around seemingly pointlessly makes more sense now (minus the high heels part)
But the main problem this time is that I noticed some of the bad acting.
I don't know how but the first time it escaped me, it mainly comes from the girl in glasses, her name escapes me.
Other than that, they still all feel like real people with real emotion.
And I don't know if it was thanks to my girlfriend being with me who always notices continuity errors and points out stupid things characters do but I was drawn to the ridiculous choices some of the characters made. I think the first time I was immersed so deeply by the tone and score I just didn't care.
It also felt like there should have been more to the film. Although I'm pleased with what ending we have, I started wishing for there to be something I missed the first time.
But of course, I didn't.
But then maybe that's just me wishing for there to be more because I enjoyed the film so much.
So in all, it was still an excellent movie, I still love it. I still have the pre-order for the Blu-Ray going.
But now I'm hoping it has some sweet ass special features as I NEED more!
I'm mainly hoping for a fun commentary, I love my commentaries on horror movies.
I might do my own one day you can play back on top of a film (it was an idea for our old podcasts at one point but we had no idea where to start).
So I still recommend it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
It may not be the almost perfect masterpiece I thought when I first watched it but it still scores incredibly high in my book.
